I was forced to lie in my own excrement, got an infected pressure ulcer from not being moved, and got sepsis because of it.

Mrs. Shoemaker was comatose for 71 of her 85 days in-hospital. She doesn't recall anything there, but says that she was treated horribly in the rehab facility where she was admitted approximately 04/22/22, to be weaned off the ventilator for the first 2-1/2 weeks. She was told to defecate in her bed, which she did, because she had diarrhea, and couldn't get up on her own. She was forced to lie in it so much that she became septic from the pressure ulcer that got infected while not being rotated in bed. She was also restrained against her will, and when her husband was allowed in, he released her himself, and told the doctor under no circumstances was she to be restrained again. He was able to stay with her after that, and was able to monitor her treatment. Once she was weaned, she was moved to another floor, where she was treated wonderfully, as she learned to walk, talk, and regain her independence. She was in Brookwood facility for about 2 months, for a total of 6 months of her life being taken from her. She's just grateful to be alive!

My family was told I was not going to survive. They told them they had to make a decision to take me off or not, and told them I'd probably have brain damage if I survived.

Covid/Remdesivir Battle

My name is Tina Shoemaker, and I am a survivor of the Remdesivir/hospital protocols used on me in 3 different hospitals. The first hospital, Enterprise Med Center, said i had double covid pneumonia and gave me Remdesivir for 5 days then sent me home to die. Within 24 hours, I was back in the ER being admitted with them telling me I also had bacterial pneumonia, and that I was dying.

On Jan 26, they sent me to Grandview Hospital ICU in Birmingham, where I was immediately put on a ventilator and stayed for 71 days. I underwent multiple surgeries suffered from a stroke and 4/5 days of sub clinical seizures. I was also put on dialysis. During the stay there I was strapped to the bed unable to move when I wasn’t knocked out. I developed a severe bed sore on my rear while there due to not being moved. I have very few memories of this stay.

When I was well enough, I was moved to Brookwood Rehab Hospital to be weaned off the vent and trach for the first 2-1/2 weeks. That was the worst place I had ever been. My family couldn’t stay with me and I had to lay in a soiled bed for hours at a time. After I got off the vent, they moved me to a better floor, where i learned to do everything all over again.

They were wonderful there. AfI was in Brookwood until June 1 2022. I have had multiple surgeries on the bedsore, and still have issues with it. After 85 total days on that ventilator, and 6 more weeks in rehab, I still suffer with breathing problems, and have severe PTSD. I’m just thankful to be alive.
