Our son came home sick Friday November 5th. By Saturday the 6th my husband was coughing a lot. He thought it was his Bronchitis flaring up. By Monday the 8th he said our son couldn’t taste or smell. We did COVID test & we were all positive. I called our family Dr’s off & asked what to do. They said there was nothing we could do because it was a virus & it had to run its course. They told us to take over the counter cold & flu meds. By that Tuesday 11/09/21 my husband Matthew & myself developed cough, fever & chills. I called our Dr’s office again several times & they set they would have to set up a telehealth visit for us. 

They did the telehealth visit & told us the same things again. Which we did. They just said if we started having trouble breathing ho to the hospital. I asked my husband if he was having trouble breathing he said no. I got the finger monitor & checked our oxygen. Mine was around 88. Matthew’s was 64. I told him he needed to go to the hospital. I took him to the hospital Sunday 11/14/2021. They of course wouldn’t let me in. I talked to him several times on the phone. They finally let me In to see him Tuesday 11/16/2021. His one complaint was that he could never get anyone to come when he hit the call button for help.

I sat with him that night until visiting hours were almost up. I told him I would be in early the next morning so we could be together to get pictures & video of our Grand daughter after she was born. She was born Wednesday 11/17/21. He was so excited we have two grandsons & this was our first granddaughter. When she was born & we received pics & video. He test our daughter that he was so in love already. I left later that evening & told him I would be there a little later the next day because we were both tried & I still wasn’t feeling 100% yet. That night, he sent me a picture of himself with a CPAP mask on. He said he wished they would come get it off. He said he had hit the call button several times because he was hungry & his food had been sitting there for about 45 minutes. But no one would answer his call button.

The next morning I got the call to come because he had taken a turn for the worse. I asked what had happened because he had been doing well. They said he went to the bathroom on his own & he collapsed & he oxygen came off & his oxygen dropped pretty low. I got to the hospital & they told me to wait. They said a Chaplin was coming to talk to me. Of course I knew what that meant. I just kept telling them I wanted to see my husband. They finally let my daughter & myself in & said there was nothing more that could do. I asked them how long he had lain there before they realized he had collapsed & his oxygen was off. They didn’t really give me a straight answer. They said they just thought that a blood clot had hit him. They said they went to take him to intubate & he went into cardiac arrest. My husband was my best friend, my everything, and everything to our kids & grands & now he is gone.

I was angry because I found out after our primary Dr’s office was giving the monoclonal antibodies. Yet we were never offered that. When I asked why not they said because you have to get it within the first three days. I called as soon as we started with it. I feel they didn’t want to give it to us because we weren’t vaccinated. I was asked at a visit after all this, if I would now consider getting vaccinated. I told them no.
