Here is my story. On 10/7/21 I wasn’t feeling well. On 10/8/21 I was feeling awful. I called Dr. Luis Guzman’s office in Reedley, CA, and they said to come to the office and call when I was outside and they would come out to test me. They came out tested me for covid and said to go ahead and go home they would call me with the results. I got about 5 minutes away and they called saying that I was positive but to come back so they can test me for the flu. I went back and was tested. They said they would call me an antibiotic.

I still wasn’t feeling better on 10/11/21, so I looked online and the Adventist Health ER in Reedley, CA was doing the monoclonal antibodies. I called to get in and the person in the ER said they don’t do it, but the Adventist Health in Selma, CA did. “I said but it’s on your website”. So I drove myself to Adventist Health in Selma, Ca. which is about 15 minutes away from me. I called when I got there and asked them to come out to get me because I was positive for Covid and was having breathing problems. They came out right away and took me inside the waiting room and put me on oxygen, then took me into a room in the ER. What I remember is being on oxygen and on a pulse oximetry. I remember asking to use the restroom and someone took me.

I don’t know how long after that I saw 2 codes come in and 1 code leave in a bag. I needed to use the restroom again and was told they were working on a code. So I unhooked myself and went to the restroom and came back and put myself on the oxygen and pulse oximetry. I don’t know how long after that the doctor came in. I remember talking to him and the next thing I’m in a room on the main floor with an oxygen mask on. I don’t know how I got there or if I got to ask for the infusion. It was like I was in the middle of a conversation and then I was in a different room. That was Oct. 11th. I was put on Remdesivir right away. I was declining fast because of the remdesivir and on Oct. 15th they intubated me and my family who was in contact said to take me off remdesivir now. If my family didn’t insist they take me off, I would be dead.

I went to heaven. Everything was white and all I could see was coffins covered in white. I had a  dream I was restrained and from pictures I know I was. On Nov. 1st they transferred me to Adventist Health in Hanford, CA to remove the intubation tube that I was becoming dependent on and put in a trach and a feeding tube. I was transferred back to the ICU after the procedure. After I woke up from that I realized it was Nov. 1st. I couldn’t believe I had lost a month of my life and didn’t know the hell I had been through until I had gone through some of my records.  I remember calling someone to tell them I needed to go to the bathroom, someone came in and I expressed I needed to GO without saying I needed to poop {diahrrea}. She said go ahead I’m all hooked up. So I did. I don’t know when this was but a nurse came in and I told her what happened and she looked and I was lying in my own soiled bed that had given me a terrible rash from here to there.

She and another person looked at each other and started stripping my bed and cleaning me up. Not long after that a different nurse shoved a rectal tube in me. I was in severe pain. My first visitor was my mother and she asked me what was wrong. I told her what had happened. The same nurse who cleaned up that mess rubbed my back as the other person took the tube out. That was terrible.  (when I got out of the hospital about 4 months later I had my throat stretched and asked my doctor to check me because when I needed to use the restroom if I didn’t go right then it would come out on its own.} What he found is that the rectal tube caused me to have fishers. I’m still having problems.

My mom asked how come I was only allowed one visitor and other people had more. They said it was because they weren’t going to make it. My father had dropped something off at the hospital for me and gave the girl at the desk my name. “She said you mean the miracle girl”. On Nov 7th or 8th I went to med surg where I had a speech therapist come in to see if I could tolerate food and a physical therapist. I was still unable to walk. I think it was on the 11th I was transferred to Adventist Health in Reedley Ca to the swing unit for physical therapy. Here’s another mess. I started therapy  on the 14th. I would push my button that wasn’t always working.

One morning I called and no one came and I needed to use the restroom. I just laid there hoping I would go to sleep so I wouldn’t have an accident in my bed. This was probably the 17th. or 18th. When someone finally came in I told them what had happened and that no one even popped their head in to check on me and that I could have been dead. I said I felt neglected  and wanted to go home. The therapist came in and I told her what had happened and that I wanted to go. I asked what I needed to do. I passed what I needed to and went home on November 19, 2021. I had therapy at home and a wound nurse for my trach and feeding tube that was taking out.

Going back to Dr. Guzman he knew that I’m a high risk patient. That one day I’m not feeling well and the next day I have bronchitis or pneumonia.  I had also talked to his PA when I was home and explained to her what had happened. She said she sent all her Covid patients to get the infusion in the ER. Dr. Guzman and the ER share the same waiting room. I was that close and he didn’t send me. He could have saved me from that visit to the ICU.

I was also septic. My family didn’t know that.
