My husband was a healthy 46 year old father of 4 and grandfather of 2.  He had no health issues other than a few bouts of diverticulitis and was overweight.  We had just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on December 18, 2021.  Just three days later he developed a cough and fever.  He was due to fly out of town the next day, and his employer wanted him to take a Covid test.  He tested positive for Covid on December 23, 2021.  He became severely fatigued over the next week with a bad cough and fever and chills on and off.  He also began experiencing vertigo.  On December 30, 2021 I checked his oxygen level and it was 70%, so I called EMS.  He was transported to the hospital where he spent over 12 hours in the ER, during which time it was very hard to get in touch with anyone to see how he was doing.  He was admitted to the ICU on December 31, 2021 and started on a five day course of Remdesivir.  Just three days after completing this medication course, his breathing had become so labored, requiring very high levels of oxygen via BiPAP, that he needed to be placed on a ventilator.  A few days later he had to start dialysis due to kidney failure.  He also started showing signs of liver failure and became septic.  On January 15, 2022 the family was called in to discuss end of life care.  While we were there, he passed away due to low blood pressure despite being given three times the normal dose of norepinephrine
