Sandra’s husband, Jason, a retired Navy Lieutenant submarine Commander was 50 years old when he became ill. He felt “funny”, and had a cough, fever, and chills. Sandra also became ill but recovered. On July 29th, 2021, Jason was found with blue lips, low oxygen (39) even though he had been prescribed steroids and antibiotics.
Jason was taken to the hospital, and the next day moved to the ICU where Sandra could only peer through a window. Jason was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and placed on a bi-pap machine. His oxygen level was stable at 98%.
Sandra requested and was denied Ivermectin and any alternative treatment. Remdesivir was administered. She was told only a court order could supersede the hospital protocol. Jason’s kidneys began to fail and his breathing was labored. Sandra hired one of the best attorneys in her state of Kentucky, Chris Weist.
On August 6th, 2021 Jason was intubated. He was scared, so they heavily sedated him. A tracheotomy was also performed. Eventually, Sandra as able to see him again, as Jason’s kidneys failed and he was put on dialysis.
In a cruel twist of fate, a doctor told Sandra he took Ivermectin and Hyroxychloroquine to recover himself, “but,” he said, “don’t say anything because I might lose my job.”
On August 31st, 2021 Sandra and her family make the difficult decision and allowed Jason’s vent to be removed. Within seconds, Jason Vassler, loving husband, father, and grandfather of five, passed away.
We honor Lt. Commander Vassler and his service to his country. Our deepest condolences to Sandra and her family who have fought and are fighting as hard as Jason.
