I took Phillip to Mercy Hospital in Healdton on 12/16/2020 because his oxygen was too low. They gave him oxygen and sent him to Duncan Regional. He was isolated for 9 days. I wasn’t allowed to see him and they wouldn’t let me know what was happening. I was told I couldn’t see him until they knew he was going to die.

He was given Remdesivir and had a horrible reaction to it. It took his temperature up extremely high as well as his blood pressure. He was able to FaceTime the day after his reaction and told me what happened. I called the hospital and they told me he was wrong that none of that happened and he only said that because he was sick. I told Phillip what they said and he was shocked and said it happened.

They later told me that his temp and blood pressure had gone up but they gave him meds for it. I continually called the hospital for updates on him and they would promise to call but they wouldn’t. I told my sister in law and she called the hospital and got an advocate for us. On 12/24/2020 they said I could see him. I went right away and he was struggling to breathe. They let me stay about an hour telling me nothing about his condition.

On my way home they called and said they put him on a ventilator. His kidneys started failing soon after they put him on the ventilator. They paralyzed him and sedated him. I asked if he could have dialysis to help his kidneys because I saw a dialysis place outside the hospital. They said no. They would keep his body prone for 12 hours at a time.

They told me I could come to the hospital and sit in the parking lot each day and they might let me see him at their convenience. They said if they didn’t have time that I couldn’t see him. I would sit in the hospital parking lot for 5 hours and kept calling for a chance to see him. They let me see him and acted like I was putting them out.

It was absolutely horrific what he went through. He died without me getting to be with him at 12:30 am on 12/29/2020. After he passed, so had to call the hospital over and over to get the doctor to sign the his death certificate. I ended up having to email the president of the hospital to get it signed.
