Name of Victim: Anne Wishniak
Age: 71 years old
Date of onset of symptoms: 08/21/2021
First sought medical attention: 08/24/2021
Admitted to hospital: 08/24/2021
Treatment received at hospital: Treated poorly
Experience in hospital:
My mother went in on August 24 with a pulse ox of 65%. I’m a nurse myself I did not think that she had Covid. Honestly I just thought it was pneumonia. She was brought to good Samaritan Hospital and an hour later they called to tell me that she tested positive for double Covid pneumonia. And I was not allowed to come to the hospital. At that point I asked if they could give her monoclonal antibodies, Being a nurse I know that that is the cure and it helps. They told me that she wasn’t a candidate because she was on oxygen which is not true because I worked in pulmonary and was scheduling patients with emphysema COPD. They just didn’t want to give it to her.
Jennifer started to advocate for her mother, Anne, right away. Soon as Anne arrived at the hospital monoclonal antibodies were requested but denied. The hospital stated Anne would be started on antibiotics and a steroid for her double pneumonia, with no mention of starting Remdesivir. Once upstairs Anne was visited by her pulmonologist and told; “oh your here because you are unvaccinated”.
Once Anne was admitted to the ICU, Jennifer demanded she is allowed to see her mother. Jennifer at this time was allowed to only see her mother for 15 minutes. On Sept 13th, Anne suffered a heart attack from the nurse was unable to get to her fast enough, during this time her BiPap mask came off, and at this time she was placed on a ventilator. Jennifer was able to communicate with her mother for the last time before being placed on the ventilator. Anne was aware Jennifer was with her and knew she might never see her daughter again. It was only after being intubated the doctors told Jennifer that her mother had received 7 days of Remdisivir, along with Vancomycin and Olumaint.
