Stan and I had been thru so many hospital visits before this one. I was always allowed to stay except one time when he was in ICU for heart bypass surgery for 24 hours.  Keeping us apart during the last visit was inhumane, in my opinion.  When I took him to the emergency room he was having trouble breathing. I told him on the way to the hospital, I didn’t want to take him because I was afraid they were going to kill him! He said the hospital had saved him twice before and I should be more positive!

We both refused the Remdesivir in the ER and the nurse immediately became indignant. She said he was being transferred to the COVID floor and I could not see him! I said I wanted to talk to the Dr first because I wanted him to be given Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine.  The Dr did not call till the afternoon of the next day. When I spoke to him he said that those drugs were not available. He said that they had really good results with Remdesivir since they had been using it the last 20 months to treat COVID.

Stanley’s oxygen level was only getting worse so I consented on day 2.  Day 3 Dr called and said he was continuing to get worse and he was going to have an ICU Dr look at him. On day 4 he called and said the ICU Dr wanted to move him but not that day.  I told him they better not intubate him till I talked to him!  Then on Day 5 I got the call that they were moving him to ICU. They wanted to put him on ventilator.  I told them NO, till I could see him.

I drove to the hospital and was allowed to go on the COVID floor to see my husband.  We talked and prayed together about this.  I told him I would fight them if he didn’t want to do this, he moved over his oxygen mask and said “I’m tired.”.  Then began our 5 days in ICU which was another story!
