By keeping him isolated.
Miguel Rodriguez, 59, husband, father and grandpa. He lived most of his life in Chicago until he moved to Arizona In 2008. He worked as a security officer until the unexpected. He had alot of dreams for his future retirement. He was a hard working man always thinking about his family, he loved to do different projects in his home, but most of all he grew up playing drums and joined several music bands. Music was his passion. He was also an artist in drawing.
He was a very outgoing person, loved to make jokes and we never saw him sad. He also liked sport cars and hiking. So much to miss about him. He was very energetic, full of life and healthy. Him and my son were living together and me and my daughter were in Chicago at the time. My son tested COVID positive and was very ill, but he recovered. About 2 weeks later, my husband started feeling sick and having cold symptoms. I was communicating with them and trying to advise them on taking warm beverages. He was taking over the counter meds and fluid. All this time, I thought he was going to recover like my son did, but on November 6th he started to feel worse and tested positive for COVID.
On November 8th, I spoke to him on the phone and he said he had Shortness of Breath and wanted to go to the hospital. My son drove him, but after that, he wasn’t able to see him. After he was admitted, I was speaking to the nurses over the phone asking for updates and he was stable. He had his phone, but wasn’t using it much which I don’t know why. That Monday, they started him on Remdesivir and steroids.
I called the hospital again and was told he was still on Remdesivir and antibiotics. He texted me later that night saying, “ Hi mama! I’m here struggling to breathe, and I am putting everything In God’s hands; I love you and my baby”. On Nov 10th,11th, and 12th, he was still being given Remdesivir. On Nov 13th, I called a nurse for updates and she said he was doing good and lying on his stomach. I called to speak with the doctor and they never called me back. My husband texted me saying the doctor was there and to call him. So I kept calling and still no answer. My husband texted me saying his taste was back and he was feeling much better. The doctor then injected him with morphine.
On Monday Nov 15th, the nurse called us saying he needed to be intubated and put on a ventilator to let his lungs rest. She asks us to consent, but then said nevermind because he was still conscious. Later, she discussed the procedure with him, called me back (in a rude tone) saying that my husband told her he would rather get a bullet through his head than to be intubated. She then told him he had no choice and they proceeded with it anyway. I know my husband very well and I’m sure he fought with them until the end.
I called to speak with the doctor and still no answer once again. I knew something was going on. Me and my son then went to the hospital and asked to speak with the doctor and they didn’t let us in and no updates. I finally spoke to the nurse and they started nourishment. The hospital finally allowed visitors, but only one per day. Me and my kids were taking turns day by day. It’s so sad to see him in that position.
November 21st to Dec 7th, no changes. Everyday was torture having to see him suffer and paralyzed at the hands of doctors and nurses. We met with the pulmonologist who was very rude, nasty and had no compassion for patients. She told me in front of my husband, for us to start thinking about his life ending which really hurt me and I told her God had the last word and she said “this has nothing to do with God, I’ve never seen anyone come back in his condition”. On December 7th, we received a phone call from the nurse telling us that he wasn’t going to make it and only had a couple of hours. We then rushed to the hospital and my husband was finally washed up because the whole time he was in the hospital they never bathed him not once. I noticed he had a white zip lock bag with a tag, ready to be one more victim. I know all of this was planned and everything happened too fast. An hour later, God called him home. Right afterwards, a nurse came in and removed all tubes that were placed on him and left his mouth wide open. She had no respect to even close it. It is so sad to see what kind of medical staff hospitals have.
Our loved ones didn’t deserve any of this. I could go on and on, but all of you are going through the same emotions as myself and know exactly what the truth is and all for the love of money. I will always be my husband’s voice, I love him very much.
