Mathew was mistreated in the ED of Midstate Medical Center as well as ED at Hospital of Central Connecticut and the ICU at Hospital of Central CT. The mistreatment included: no consent for treatment, Negligence in nursing care, being left alone for hours at a time by all nursing staff. PA's refusal to listen about allergy to Medications as well as not being truthful about diagnosis, reiterating death from admission to ICU, pushing DNR, no cardiologist for heart attack, cleanliness of room and patient, keeping family from seeing and touching him as much as possible.

Medications given: Remdesivir, ativan, antibiotics, antifungal, adrenaline, Amlodipine, anxiety meds, blood thinner, blood pressure meds, Convalescent Plasma, dexamethasone, dexametomidine, doxycycline, Decadron, Dilaudid, diuretic, arythro, fentynal, haldor, heparin, insulin, Monoclonal antibodies, Oxygen, pain killers, paralytic drugs, precedex, propofol, Rocephin, sedatives, seraquel, sodium chloride, Steroids, Vancomycin, xanax

My son Mathew was intelligent, kind, and loving, and did not deserve to be treated so inhumanely, cruelly, and then murdered by those we entrusted him to.

My son, Mathew Anthony Donarumo, Jr, 37 was murdered by the Covid Hospital Protocol. Mathew was a successful small business owner who specialized in Advanced IT systems for businesses which included medical firms and government contracts. He was extremely intelligent and was petrified of the Covid Hospital Protocols.

Mathew was taken by ambulance to Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, Ct after suffering shortness of breath from Covid. He suffered a heart attack in the ambulance and was revived. The ER said the heart attack was caused by 2 blood clots in his heart. He needed medication for the this but was denied because of Covid protocols. The clot busting medication should be delivered within the first hour and instead was given to him 14 hours later. The Life Star doctors were very good and wanted to administer the medication. It was in the tube of Mathew’s IV line and the Emergency Department nurse kinked the line refusing to let the medication do its job. There was a lot of back and forth and wasted time between the hospital administrators of each Hartford Healthcare Facility involved.

Instead of giving him the clot busting medication they gave him Remdesivir. He was supposed to be admitted to the Hartford Hospital/ICU but was denied a space in that ICU. He was transferred but was treated for COVID at the Hospital of Central Connecticut not the heart issue. They continued the Covid protocol even though he had COVID for several days and would test positive regardless as the nurse later admitted that the Hospital PCR tests are positive for 90 days after a positive test. When we spoke with the doctor in ICU who turned out to be a physician assistant, he mispresented facts and said Mathew’s records indicated that they worked on him for 90 minutes to revive him, and it was not true. Someone wrote the records wrong.

Instead of cooling his brain that night in the ICU they decided not to based on the misrepresentation. They did push the DNR at HOCC. We tried to have the records corrected but could not. They would not let a cardiologist speak with us even though they said he had a heart attack. When I asked about the blood clots in his heart they lied and said it would be 3 months before we know. They said they could not do an Xray or CT scan to check. They gave him medication he was allergic to for the asthma/lung issues and would not change it. When I asked the nurse, she said he is fine. I showed her what he took at home, and she said, “don’t show me this”!!!

They mocked him for not being vaccinated and refused to keep his bed elevated as was requested by one PA to help him breathe easier. They did not turn him routinely as we were there and witnessed. They tried to keep us from him and were always limiting our visits. They would make us wait 3 hours of the visit in a waiting room. They told us they were doing dialysis and that his kidneys that were working after the heart attack but once Remdesivir was administered the kidney failure began. His organs were also bleeding, but the bleeding was stopped and the PA who was positive and did this was no longer able to treat Mathew.

They did not feed him except once through the feeding tube that they put in. They were using a lot of laxatives even though they were not feeding him. They kept saying he needed to wake up but barely lowered the meds including the paralytics from the Ventilator. The brain MRI they finally did they said showed no brain function. The neurologist came and talked to us and said that was not true. The readers were the PA’s. The second neurologist came in and said the same exact thing. He said throw the report away. He was off all blood pressure medications and was doing better and improving. We tried to move him to Hartford Hospital with the Ecmo Machine but we were met with great resistance and there was no call back!

I later learned the same administrative person in charge of the ICU at The Hospital of Central Connecticut was also in charge of the Ecmo Department at Hartford Hospital and had to approve the move.  The nurses were no longer attentive and stayed out of his room for 3 and 4 hour stretches and would say that they were too busy. But they had 3 nurses putting an ambulatory woman on a bed pan that’s all we kept hearing about. We witnessed this as we were there for all visiting hours. The evening before he passed, I told the nurse that something was wrong and was yelled at. His oxygen level had decreased to the 89-90 range. He never lowered under 93-94 even with the ventilator lowered to 20 -40 percent the entire 21 days.

They then made me leave and we received a call that there was a “glitch”. They said he was in bad condition, but we couldn’t go to see him until visiting hours later. They later told us his lung had collapsed and they missed it thereby causing a hole as it popped. They said that they were trying to fix it but may not be able to. They later said that all of the oxygen was pouring out of the hole and getting stuck in the tissues and squeezing his heart that was not damaged from the heart attack. His heart gave out eventually as it was squeezed until it could not work any longer.

As soon as he passed the PA came in and said that we should have an autopsy done but they know what happened and it wasn’t necessary. They know his long collapsed and they missed it. I am sure there are many more parts of the Mathew’s story, but this is long enough and gives some detail to what Mathew suffered. Our family has suffered a tremendous loss from Mathew’s murder as he had his whole life ahead of him. We do want to see justice for this calculated, premeditated, greed inspired murder.
