When my husband was diagnosed with covid, he was told not to go to the hospital. I believe if he had gone earlier to the hospital ,he might have stood a better chance of living.
He was admitted but he was really struggling, and a friend of ours who is a doctor went to see him, and was shocked by how sick he was. The staff was so overworked and no one was paying attention. Our friend went and found an ICU doctor who then had my husband moved to ICU.
They had to ventilate him, and then everything went from bad to worse. He started with blood clots, and they had to go into emergency surgery. Then, had he lived, they would have had to amputate his foot. Then his kidneys went into failure and he needed dialysis.
They could not get him off the ventilator because he was so agitated. Again, I believe had I been with him, I could have helped to calm him down.
