My husband contracted COVID19, early October 2021.  When he was having respiratory problems, I called 911 to hospitalize him at Santa Christus Hospital, San Marcos, TX.  I was not allowed  to see him at the hospital.  My daughter was the one who visited him early during his stay.  I did sneak in one time after I was cleared of Covid to visit him at which time he told me he didn’t want me to get it again.  At some point early on, he texted me to bring him a change of clothes because he was coming home and was walking out of the hospital.  Apparently, he didn’t feel sick and felt well enough to go home.  This told me he was feeling well enough to walk out of the hospital!!!   I was unable to ask my daughter questions about what exactly was going on.  It’s torture to her for me to ask questions regarding her father’s stay at Santa Rosa Christus Hospital in San Marcos, TX.  She was adopted and adored.  She endlessly loved her father, Alan Mark Haines.

Apparently, before I knew it, Alan was telling the doctors  that he wanted to go into hospice?!?!?  At this point, he was unable to speak or talk because he was on a ventilator. He was on morphine every 2 hours and was unable to speak or talk to me/us!  The doctors told me that Alan had signed a DNR.  I was so grief stricken and couldn’t think straight and before I knew it, I was meeting with a Hospice counselor.  I was rude and didn’t want to speak to Hospice, however my daughter, Rachel Watkins, did.   Rachel was kind and cordial to Hospice, completely opposite of what I was.  I was angry,  rude and confused.  Nothing made sense!  Hospice NEVER made sense to me.  He was ready to come home.  It went from “I’m coming home” to “he was going to die”!!  I was told by the doctors that Alan had asked to not be fed so he could DIE!!!

My daughter and I would go see him to wet his lips with water and try to get him to eat.  I know my Alan wanted to live and was ready to come home.  He had a male nurse that would come in, pinch his nose and taunt him by telling him, “You are going to DIE”.  We reported that male nurse.  However, he continued to be in his room to do whatever the hell he needed to do.

I’m so broken over ALL that took place, not really knowing what happened.  Did Alan really sign a DNR?  I’ll probably never know, I believe his medical records were falsified.  Even though it’s in his medical report that he asked to be put in Hospice, I don’t believe it.  Dr. Sharma was rude and unprofessional.  He never offered to speak with us unless we asked. We met with him only one time.  We often saw him playing video games on his computer watching him from Alan’s ICU room.   Dr. Sharma was careless and didn’t care whether Alan lived or died.  I blame the hospital protocols for not doing more than what they did.  I believe Dr. Sharma was careless and lied to us about everything that was happening.  My husband should not have died!!! I blame the hospital for lying to us.  MY HUSBAND SHOULD NOT HAVE DIED.  I BELIEVE HE WAS KILLED BY HOSPITAL PROTOCOLS!!!
