We were in Florida on vacation.  My husband had a tickle in his throat before we left Indiana but just blamed it on seasonal allergies.  He said he felt fine.  We got to Florida on a Saturday, went to Disney Springs, had lunch, walked a long ways.  Next day went to Disney world, he was fine.  Next day went to Sea World, he was feeling a little off but still walked around all day and had good appetite.  Next day headed to Clearwater as we had reservations for a few days there.  The following day we went to the beach and had lunch and he was starting to cough and not feel great but still getting along and had appetite.  The next day, Thursday, he did not leave hotel room and was coughing worse, I ask if he thought he might have Covid and he said no, it is bronchitis, I have had it before, I will be fine. We had gotten him some Mucinex and cough drops and Benadryl, which he was taking and Aleve.

Friday, he had diarrhea all day and didn’t want to eat and was coughing a lot and did not leave the room. Saturday morning we headed back to Orlando to our pre-booked room close to airport as we were flying back to Indiana on Sunday. When we got to the hotel, he was very weak and I had to help him to our room.  He went right to bed.  He continued to get worse and was talking kind of weird or out of his head at times. I was scared because he could hardly stand on his own, so I called 911. They came and took his vitals, they were all fine, he had no fever, his bp was fine, he wasn’t having any trouble breathing.  They thought he was drunk.  He had not had anything to drink.  I told them he had diarrhea for a couple of days and they said he was probably dehydrated.  They said they would take him to hospital where they would give him fluids and send him back to hotel and we could be on our way home the following day.  I rode in the ambulance with him and went into the emergency room with him, I ask to use the restroom which was across the hall and when I came back not 2 minutes later, they said I couldn’t be in the room with him because he had Covid double pneumonia in both lungs.  How they knew that in 2 minutes is mind boggling.

They did ask him upon arrival, if he had been vaccinated and he told them he had not. They ask him again several times. I was not allowed to even be in the hospital, I had to wait outside on a bench until I could find a way back to hotel. I stayed in Orlando a couple more days and talked to my husband on the phone a couple of times and he had very labored breathing and he could hardly talk. He wasn’t getting better, he was getting worse.  I did fly back to Indiana, as I was starting to not feel well myself and the restaurant in the hotel was only open at night, so no place to eat close by and we had already turned in our car and I was out of my vitamins and clean clothes.  Called the hospital to let them know that I would be back.  They called me the following day and said they were going to vent him so his lungs could rest.  I told them not to unless it was a matter of life or death.  I never got to talk to my husband and they vented him and transferred him to the hospital where he died.

The doctors and nurses never called me, I had to call them.  About 10 days in, Dr. Hanna told me Kent was not getting any better and would he want to be hooked up to all these tubes and such and wanted me to sign DNR and I refused.  I let him know Kent wanted to live and had a life worth living and was a man of pure faith.  The few times I talked to doctor, the DNR was always brought up.  They ran all kinds of tests on Kent looking for reasons so I would sign DNR, they couldn’t find any.  Checked for brain activity, blood clots.  Kent was fighting to live and come home.  I know he was!  They did a tracheotomy on him after the second week saying he would recover better and were supposed to do a peg tube at the same time and didn’t.  Kent had no nutrition for at least a week that I know of.  I was crying and begging them to feed him because he needed the nutrition in order to keep his strength up.

After a week, they finally got him the peg tube.  I also begged them to let me come be with him, that I would wear whatever protective gear they wanted me to wear, they said it was against protocol until he was out of Covid ICU.  I kept asking to have him checked for Covid so he could get out of the Covid ICU, it took me harassing them everyday for over a week to get them to check him and they said he still showed positive.  The day before Kent died, they called me at 11:30 pm on Monday to tell me he wasn’t going to make it and I needed to get there as soon as possible.  I got the next flight out and was at his bedside at 9am.  They had me wear all the protective gear and I got to be with my husband as he passed.  The hospital had just my husband and one other guy in the Covid ICU.  The beds were all empty.  The hospital was dirty and they were under construction, so I’m sure they needed the money from my husbands death to help complete their project.  My husband had not been groomed the entire time he was there.  His hair was long and his beard was full.  They tell you they bathed him but he had bed sores and looked awful and I wonder if they bothered cleaning him.  I know I have left a lot out of my story as I sit here sobbing and re-living it all but I know in my heart that they didn’t even try to keep him alive because he wasn’t vaccinated and he was 70 years old but I also know he should still be here with me.  He was a healthy, vibrant, still working every day contributing to our society and was loved beyond words and they murdered him!  Please help me get justice for him and others so he didn’t die in vain!
