Steven K.’s Story
In early December of 2021, Steve,65, called his PCP telling him he was feverish. Steve was prescribed a nebulizer, some meds, and an oxygen concentrator for home use. However, by Dec 13, 2021 his oxygen level plummeted to the low 60s. He was transported by ambulance to Sabatha Comm. Hospital where his chest was xrayed and he was placed on a hi flow ventilator. He was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Steve told them he didn’t want Remdesivir but after a great amount of pressuring, he consented. He was told by the doctor if he didn’t consent to Remdesivir, the doctor would refuse to treat him. Steve also received a low dose of fentanyl and spent the next two weeks in the Covid ICU on a ventilator.
During this time, Sandy, Steve’s wife, tried to communicate with the nursing staff who consistently was too busy or unavailable to talk with her. Sandy questioned the “Covid Cocktail”, wanted to know what was in it, and asked for alternative medications. Four days before Steve received a tracheotomy, Steve was unresponsive. On Dec 30, 2021 Sandy was notified that she could come in to see him.
Steve was removed from the ventilator. He also had a feeding tube for nourishment. On January 19, 2022, Steve did in-house rehabilitation for his lungs and overall strengthening.
Happily home now with his wife Sandy, Steve is grateful for those in his community who truly cared but to this day is concerned about the mysterious “Covid Cocktail” injected into his body. There was no disclosure about side effects or the emergency use authorization of Remdesivir as an experimental drug. Steve continues to pursue answers to this one medicine fits all approach to his treatment. We support Steve and Sandy in their search for answers.
