Upon arriving at the hospital, they did a Covid test on Richard, administered oxygen, an IV, informed Sherry that Richard was very sick and that she had to leave. She informed the hospital that he had trouble hearing and that she would like to stay with Richard. They told her she could not stay. During Richard’s first day, Sherry requested Hydroxychloroquine, not Remdesivir. The doctor said it was not an approved drug and refused to give it. Sherry requested a breathing treatment using Budesonide and the hospital refused, claiming exhaled breath would penetrate the HVAC system and contaminate throughout the hospital making other patients sick. Richard took several videos during his stay with the last video sent to Sherry on 9/4/2020. Sherry was allowed to see Richard when the hospital phoned and said he was not doing well on 9/6/2020 around 8pm, but the hospital requested she leave by 5am on 9/7/2020.
During her visit she confirmed with a nurse that his oxygen levels had improved while she was there. On 9/8/2020, Sherry phoned hospice and asked if patient could be transported home under hospice care if the patient was on Bipap and hospice said yes with his physicians approval. Dr. Patel phoned early on 9/8/2020 (around 9am) and we informed him that we were transferring Richard home. Dr. Patel told Sherry that hospice does not provide a Bipap, and she informed him we already confirmed that they do, so he approved the transfer verbally. Sherry and her sisters cleaned out an additional bedroom to prepare for her husband. On 9/8/2020 around 2pm, hospice called to inform Sherry that Dr. Patel said transport was too risky and that the patient would not likely make it through the night. Sherry asked if she, her son and her two sisters could see Richard and the hospital said yes we could come in the evening again. We arrived at the hospital and stayed for about 30 minutes. Richard became agitated and was trying to shake the IV board taped like a boxing glove around his hand off. He sat up with the Bipap on and was trying to talk. A male nurse came in and gave him something to calm him. Sherry was distraught and had not eaten in almost a week so we left to go eat, and the nurse informed us we could return afterwards. We arrived at a local Chili’s about 4.5 miles from the hospital, and within minutes of Sherry receiving her food, the phone rang and the hospital said Richard had taken a turn for the worse. When we arrived at the hospital in ICU, Richard had passed.

To: It was terrible...I had to call the squad because Bob's oxygen level had dipped to the 70's. 911 to Warren County Ohio/Clearcreek Township. They weren't concerned at all about Bob. They wanted to know how many people were in our house and had we all been tested. They said Bob had to meet them at the door. When they pulled up to our house, they only parked in the street. Not the driveway. They wanted Bob to WALK to the ambulance. Insisted they put him on a gurney. They didn't turn on lights or sirens. Bob texted when he got to Sycamore and said they didnt give him oxygen in the squad. He was taken to Sycamore and they said their covid floor was full. I had to choose between Fort HAmilton or Grandview Hospital...neither have good reputations. I chose Grandview. While he was there, I spoke to a nurse once and had to take his c-pap machine to the hospital. I parked in the physicians lot...it was empty. I never had 1 call from a doctor his whole time at Grandview. He was intubated without my consent. I was able to get him transferred to Christ hospital in Cinci and he was put on an ecmo machine there. He lasted almost 2 months. The treatment at Christ was vastly different than Grandview. NEVER spoke to a dr once at Grandview. Why didnt they give him oxygen in the squad?
