Eric tested positive for COVID through a rapid antigen test on Saturday, November 6, 2021.  He experienced mild symptoms, but developed shortness of breath the week of November 14th.  He had a phone appointment with a physician on Wednesday, November 17th.  He explained the symptoms he was experiencing and was told those were all normal and was released to go back to work on November 22nd.  I told my husband that was not accurate advice.

He then scheduled another appointment on Thursday, November 18th with a physician assistant who prescribed an inhaler and to purchase a pulse oximeter.  He tested at home somewhere in the 70’s and we decided it best he go to the hospital for treatment.  He went to St. Rose emergency that afternoon at 3:30PM and was admitted at 8:30PM.  As I was not vaccinated, the Hospital policy prohibited all unvaccinated individuals from entering the hospital.  My communication with Eric was through phone and text messages.

The staff tried to give him a COVID vaccine which he denied.  He was placed on Remdesivir and Dexamethasone.  There is nowhere in the medical records stating the physicians obtained permission from Eric to receive these medications.  We knew he was on a blood thinner for the blood clots and that was all.  I received a phone call on November 30th from the physician stating that Eric’s breathing had worsened and they felt the best plan of action was to intubate him.  I gave my permission as did Eric and he died during the procedure.

On Monday, December 6th I requested Eric’s medical records.  It was then that I discovered he was given Remdesivir.  I called and spoke with the attending physician, Dr. Li, to ask why my husband was given Remdesivir when the virus was not present. She sounded shocked that he had tested negative.   Red flags surfaced from that conversation with her.  She attempted to explain and I told her their logic made no sense to me at all.

Since Eric’s death, I have read so many other similar stories with similar timelines when given Remdesivir.  I had two other physicians review Eric’s records and they both concluded that Eric should have been given a broad spectrum antibiotic and should have walked out of those hospital doors.  It will be two years that Eric was murdered by the physicians, hospital administration and every employee that had contact with Eric at St. Rose Hospital.

Eric was the love of my life and my best friend.  We were married twenty-eight wonderful years and our plan was to celebrate at least another 28 anniversaries.  Our lives have been changed forever due to greed and an absence of true physicians who promised to uphold the Hippocratic oath.  Eric was one of the good guys; a man who loved his family and friends and would give the shirt off his back to a stranger in need. His death was unnecessary and a crime.
