My late husband went on a business trip for two weeks in July. The first week he was gone was okay and he came back for the weekend with no issues. The second week after he came home, he was sick. I took him to the ER where he spent 8 hours and was treated in the lobby. He told me he felt like death. 3 days later I had to call 911 as his lips were blue. His 02 was in the 40’s when Ems showed up. He was admitted and stayed in the ICU for most of the month he was there. He was isolated as they said he was still testing positive for the virus.

On August 20,2021, he was placed on a vent. The doctor said he got consent, but I am not believing that. I don’t think there was enough time to ask for consent. We finally got to see my late husband on August 22,2021. He was fully sedated and on a ventilator. I looked over his body and noticed he had blood around the catheter and his penis.

He was not cleaned the entire month he was in the hospital. He never got shaved or was allowed to brush his teeth. I had left all the hygiene products at the hospital for my husband. I was told my husband got a secondary infection and that is what put him in septic shock. I had to make the difficult decision to remove him from the ventilator because his lungs were full of covid. My husband had only been retired from the Navy for 5 years when he passed.
