My mother was taken to the hospital for a UTI and the next thing we know, they said she had Covid and being treated with Remdesivir without consulting our family. She was restrained and her bruising was so bad, they could not be covered up with makeup at the funeral home. My mother was begging for us to get her out of the hospital. We were denied. Even the head of her assisted living facility would only receive phone calls, instead of a video chat. We had to fight to get her out so she could die with her family and not alone. She wasn't put on a ventilator only because she had a DNR.
Norma LeBeau Story
Written by Annette Spillone(Daughter)
My mother worked until she was 85, still lived in her own apartment, and was very sharp. It says in the hospital records she had dementia, but she was very aware of what was going on. She still drove, shopped, and cooked. She wasn’t feeling well for a couple of days with a UTI. My brother stayed overnight with her and then took her to the hospital to be checked out.
She had no fever and her chest was clear, yet they claimed she had Covid and a UTI. She was there for several days before she told me that they were doing some protocol on her. I asked what protocol? She didn’t know and had the nurse tell me. I therefore, expressed my concerns regarding the protocol.
My sister, who was her medical power of attorney, was not notified and got the run around to find out information about my mother. My mother was sedated, restrained, and was bruised so severely that the undertaker couldn’t cover the bruising. My mom kept saying they were killing her and she wanted out.
By the time we were able to get her out 10 days later, she told the ambulance drivers and our family how the facility had hurt her. My mom died 6 days later after getting released from the hospital.
