Gone but not forgotten

My husband got sick with COVID around August 30th by September 9th his oxygen saturation was at 63 so I called an ambulance to come to take him to the ER. He was admitted.
several days later I’m told he was being combative and pulling his mask off so they had to restrain him to bed and then decided to sedate him.
Eventual that led to having to have him put on ventilator. They blew a hole in one of his lungs. It was all down hill from there. He had two cardiac arrests and doctors didn’t know what caused it.
My husbands kidneys went into Renal Failure. When he had his second cardiac arrest I got a call from the doctor. He told me very bluntly I needed to change the do resuscitate to do not resuscitate because my husband was going to die today.
His oxygen saturation was so low that he could code again. I was told to gather my family and come to hospital to say our goodbyes.
Once we got to hospital within 10-15 minutes we were told we could spare my husband more trauma by going ahead and unplugging him from all life support. We opted to do that.
