Jerry was sick but doing ok. After the death of my brother Andy on Sep 16, he was very upset and very anxious and could not breathe so my sister took him to the hospital the next day. He was doing better and even asked my sister to bring him a burger, fries and a strawberry shake. By the time she arrived at the hospital he was not doing so good. A day or two later they put him on the vent because they said he could not breathe, we later found out he had been given remdesivir not sure if it was by consent or not. We were not allowed to go in and see him.

We fought with the help of an advocate we were allowed 1 hour a day and only one person. My brother and I insisted on a meeting with doctor and I asked if he could be placed on budesonide and was told he was on the strongest meds already. I came home and called a doctor that I know and they said he could be on both and also vitamin d and zinc. I then called the hospital back and insisted they put him on these meds. They waited until his oxygen was bad and finally started administering budesonide.

After only 2 days you could clearly see that his lungs were getting better and his oxygen jumped from high 70’s to high 90’s. We started to think that maybe he was going to make it but as soon as they changed nurses travel nurse that is when we were called back and told Jerry was not going to make it and he passed on October 23,2021
