Ronnie was admitted to the hospital on August 10, 2021. After he got in a room a Dr. Called to tell me he had pneumonia. He was put on oxygen but doing well, they did a blood gas on him and told me it was 38. But the meter on his finger said 94. They said they were doing another blood gas on the other wrist to see if it was a mistake.

I ask the Dr. If they would give him Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine he said no because it’s not there protocol. I ask him why they would let a patient die knowing there were medications that would help them? He said he took that as an insult and hung up on me. After that I never heard from the Dr. I did talk to a nurse once he went in ICU. He was there for 5 days he was transferred to OLOL in Baton Rouge because this hospital did not have 24 hour ICU care.

After being transferred I talked to a Dr. He’s doing good. I was unable to visit him because I also had covid. After I was well I went to the hospital and talked to a lady Dr. I ask would you please give him Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine? She said no it’s not our protocol. I ask why you would let patients die if there’s medications they know will help? She said everything you see or hear on the internet is a lie it does not help. I ask can he have an IV with vitamin C and D? She said no because it was in her opinion it would not help. And that there’s no such thing as an IV for vitamin D. That was a lie.

I tried for days to get her to change her mind. She said the meds were not in stock and could not get them. I checked with an office downstairs they said if the Dr. ordered it they could get whatever it is. Then I was yelled at by her when she found out I had went to another office to see if she could get the vitamin C, D, or the Ivermectin. She said she would never give ivermectin to someone that didn’t have parasites.

The next day they called to tell me they were going to put him on the ventilator. After he was on it and settled only then I was allowed to go in the room. An infectious disease Dr. came in to talk to me. Telling me they would not be giving him anything I ask for. I looked at Ronnie and he was crying. He wasn’t sedated enough and could hear us talking. My heart broke to think he had to hear what the Doctor was saying. Saying he could never have the drugs that would help him.

He was doing very good the first 3 days on the ventilator the 4th day the Dr. called me to say they tried to wake him up too fast and his oxygen dropped into the 50’s. But they were able to save him. When I got to the hospital the nurse told me the same thing. That they tried to wake him too fast. The Dr. said some people can handle it and some can not. After that Ronnie never recovered. His oxygen was always at 100%.

His heart was racing and got worse everyday. Even though he got meds to slow his heart down. Each day as I went to the hospital I noticed they had not emptied the trash and never cleaned the bathroom. There was feces still on the toilet, on Ronnies hands and under his fingernails. I cleaned Ronnie up myself. At one point his ventilator was leaking air. I was told he may not make it if they had to change it to put in a new one. At one time the meter that read his oxygen was giving a code all day. It was reading 98 but in fact it gave me false hope because it was broken and was really in the 60’s.

He was moved to a new unit on the other side of the hospital for patients that had covid. Only in the middle of hurricane to move him back 3 days later to the same unit as before because he no longer had covid. It was up and down each and everyday never knowing what the Dr. might do that would harm him. I finally pulled the ventilator when his oxygen was in the 40’s and his finger tips were turning black. It was one month before his 64th birthday. He was a wonderful caring and talented man with many things to still offer this world but forever gone.
