Jose Matos lost his father to the Remdesivir hospital protocol. Remdesivir is an unapproved drug that the FDA has given EUA to be administered to Covid19 patients in the hospital. RMV is supposed to be an anti-viral, yet it has failed many studies and even been pulled from studies in the past for its often-deadly side effects. It effects the kidneys, liver and has numerous other adverse effects such as sepsis.
Jose’s father passed on January 15, 2021, due to complications caused by Remdesivir. Jose did not know about the negative effects of Remdesivir at the time it was given to his father, nor was he informed about the drug at the hospital or asked for consent as the EUA instructs the provider to do.
All communication with Jose was done through the phone because he was not allowed in the hospital to see his father. Jose requested his father’s medical records recently and decided to go through them to see what happened.
His father was given RMV on day one of being admitted to the hospital. His father was stable, he just went to the hospital for oxygen support. After day five of being on Remdesivir, there is a reported kidney injury in his file. Mr. Matos had never had kidney issues prior to receiving the Remdesivir.
The hospital also was not feeding him. The staff also kept bringing up the idea of putting him on a ventilator and signing a DNR. Jose and his wife told the hospital they just want the best care for him. The very next day, they ventilated him without his family even knowing. The staff then mentioned dialysis due to his kidneys failing (a side effect on Remdesivir). The next time Jose talked to them; his father was getting dialysis.
A couple of days later one of his lungs collapsed and he had internal bleeding requiring blood transfusions every couple of days. Following that, a bacterial infection got in his blood causing sepsis. Each day was another major decline in Mr. Matos health when all he needed when he went in the hospital was some supplemental oxygen.
Finally, Jose was told his liver was starting to fail as well, and that the paralytic drug they put him on may have caused brain damage. Jose and his wife reluctantly decided to take him off the ventilator. They planned it on a Friday so his family could come say their goodbyes.
Jose and his wife were remarkably close to his father. All this stress caused major problems with his wife who suffered from depression. She ended up falling in a severe depressed state to the point of having a psychotic episode that risked her life. The collateral damage that the FDA’s death protocol has caused to so many families is unacceptable.
Jose’s mission is to hold this hospital accountable, raise money to help with legal expenses for himself and others that have been wronged by the medical system. Like many, Jose believes remdesivir is responsible for his father’s death. Jose hopes his story is shared and it helps save someone else and their families from going through the pain they have endured.
