My dad was a man with a heart of gold. He loved his family, riding motorcycles and being there for his friends. He did not let the fear of Covid stop him from human interaction.

He came in contact with Covid the beginning of fall. He caught it from a friend. He thought at first it was a cold. Continued to run his construction company and eventually he was having trouble breathing. My mom convinced him to go to the hospital to get checked out.

My dad walked into the hospital on his two feet. They put him on oxygen but would not allow him food or water or anything to help him fight it. Day 3 they said they had to sedate him because they said he was irate and uncooperative. They sedated him and then he didn’t have a voice in his own care anymore.

A few days later we had to go in because he wasn’t doing well. We asked about nutrition they said he was only getting saline. They said feeding was not part of the protocols. We were also told that it was the last time we would be allowed in because per the protocols families were not allowed in.

After a few more days they told us if we didn’t agree to a vent that he would die. We wanted to give him the best chance to come home. My dad was in the hospital on a vent for weeks and was improving until they switched him to remdesivir(over night, without consent)…3 days later he died of organ failure, due to “COVID”.

We asked why he took a turn for the worst. A male orderly slipped and said they had switched his medication to Remdesivir. Another nurse nudged him with her elbow and he went quite. My dad did not have to die. With the correct protocol he would have gotten better.
