Jennifer was a vibrant 46 year old wife and mother of 3. We were in the process of moving our family back to Florida after living in North Carolina for the previous six years. She had no known underlining conditions. When Jennifer contracted COVID it seemed to affect her breathing very quickly. We were constantly monitoring her O2 levels and when they dropped.

We immediately took her to Viera Hospital in the middle of the night, where she was admitted right away. This would also be the last time that I saw her conscious. She did have her cell phone and we were able to talk a few times via facetime prior to her being sedated. When she was first admitted she was not provided with her anxiety medications and was feeling very much concerned and uneasy. Once she was given the medication her anxiety did relax and her spirits seemed to improve.

The next day I received a call from her doctor telling me he put her onto the ventilator. He also told me that he has never had a patient come off the ventilator and that she really should have be vaccinated. During the time when Jennifer was intubated there was one doctor that would call me everyday when she was working. I do not recall her name now but she would report to me how Jennifer’s O2 levels were improving and that her x-rays showed some improvement.

However, I could tell when the other doctor was on duty; I would not receive calls with updates. I would call and be told that she was not improving and that her O2 levels on the vent had to be increased. Two doctors telling me two different things. Then on 9/8/22 the original doctor made the decision to fly Jennifer from Viera to Holmes Regional which caused additional stress. My wife did not make it. I was contacted first thing in the morning on 9/9/22 to come to the hospital as my wife was passing way.
