This man was an athelete, still coached a high school softball team, did physical work everyday and contacted Covid. Went into the hospital with Covid, spoke with me via phone several times a day then one night the hospital called me to get permission to put him on a ventilator. I had spoken to him a few hours earlier and we had a good conversation.
I have no idea what happened in that short period of time. Remained on the ventilator for several weeks, got a tracheotomy, ran out of Medicare days and the hospital wanted to transfer him to a step down unit in Vicksburg, MS. He was too sick to move but no Medicare left at Merit Health. Moved to Vicksburg, on September 28, 2021. Died on October 19, 2021. My world ended that day.
