Was the victim treated differently as a result of disclosing their vax status?: yes
How victim was treated differently after disclosing vax status:
My husband was not able to have water. My husband called me and told me that they where killing him. So I called the hospital and told them that my husband needed water, and they told me to stop calling. That I was calling too much.
The doctor was rude and awful telling me, "He's probably gonna die anyway."
Name of Victim: David A. Bellairs
Age: 61 years old
Admitted to hospital: 08/09/2021
Treatment received at hospital: Cruelly mistreated
Experience in hospital:
I do know that my husband told me to not say too much to the hospital, because he didn’t want them to treat him badly.
My husband went into the hospital on August 9, 2021. He was not feeling well. They tested him for Covid, and he had it. They said his oxygen level was low so they immediately put him on oxygen. They will not let me in with him, however, I did sit outside where I could still see him. I didn’t want to leave him there. Then, eventually, they took him away, and I never got to see him again, besides FaceTime.
I called and talk to him a few times, and asked him when he was getting out. He told me he was not sure. I also asked him when I could see him. He said he wasn’t sure. Then in the next few days, he told me that he was doing okay. Then for some reason, he started declining.
I called to talk to him on his phone, but he couldn’t talk to me very well because of the machine they had him on. He, however, did text me, and told me that they were not giving him water, and that they where killing him.
Then I called the hospital and they where so mean. They told me that I was calling too much, and that really upset me. I couldn’t do anything. I would sit outside in my car every day in front of the hospital, just so I could try and be close to him.
The hospital didn’t keep me informed very well, and I was scared to call. I just waited for them to call me. Then in a few days, they told me that they where going to put him on a ventilator. I didn’t know what to do.
My husband FaceTimed me right before that; he was sitting in a chair. He asked me if I knew what was next, and I said yes, that he was going to fight and get through this. The nurse was in the room during this, so I felt like I couldn’t ask him too many questions, but my husband was scared that they would be mean to him [if I asked questions].
Then on August 19, 2021, I got a phone call from the doctor telling me that my husband was going into cardiac arrest, and he would call me back when he could. So I cried, and waited for at least 45 minutes waiting for him to call back Finally, I got a call from a nurse asking me where I wanted his body to go. That was so awful. I didn’t even get a sorry or anything from them.
