When Kristi and Josh both came down with Covid on 12/28/21, there was no immediate concern.  Josh was a volunteer EMT, well-trained.  He also helped build the internet infrastructure for a small neighboring town.  Josh was a self-taught, self-sufficient, and brilliant man.

 By Jan 2, 2022, Josh was getting sicker.  He went to the ER. He stayed overnight but pushed to be discharged so he could recuperate at home. On Jan 4 he got his wish.  He could go home to recover.  There he could take his antibiotics, use a nebulizer, prone himself, and relax.

 Two days later he woke up at 3 am, disoriented with plummeting oxygen levels in the 60s.  Kristi took him to the ER. Josh had a severe reaction to Remdesivir.  When Kristi asked about using Ivermectin as an early treatment, she was treated with scorn and contempt by a nurse who stated “It’s a horse dewormer and can do more harm than good.”  A false statement as Ivermectin won the Nobel Peace prize.

 Kristi was allowed to be with Josh from 7am to 7pm daily throughout the ups and downs of his struggle for life.  He worked hard on his breathing exercises, proned himself. Very early on Jan 10, the nurse said things were looking better.  However, by 10am the med staff wanted him on the ventilator. Josh looked defeated.

 And so began the end of Josh’s life journey. Despite the use of an ECMO machine to oxygenate his blood, Josh lost his courageous battle when a nurse, trying to change the ECMO lines allowed air in and blood clots found there way to Josh.  Nothing was working as they tried to save him.

 Josh passed away on Feb 5, 2022 from Mersa, acute respiratory failure with Covid pneumonia and renal failure (a side effect of Remdesivir not disclosed to either Josh or Kristi).  Kristi and her children believe that the mishandling of the ECMO lines contributed directly to Josh’s death.  Without informed consent, they agreed to Remdesivir.

Josh’s loss leaves his family in grief and his community without a leader.  We honor Josh, his family, and all those who called Josh a friend.  We are committed to seeking justice for alternative end of life treatments in the struggle against medical tyranny.
