My husband was killed because the hospital received money for putting people on ventilators. He did not need to be on one.
They never called and asked me anything. I have a letter from them saying he died from an infection from the ventilator. He was walking around and talking on the phone, but yet they put him on a ventilator.
My husband went into the hospital March 30, 2020. He was walking and talking just fine. They told him his oxygen was low, so they were going to put a tube down his throat to help him get more oxygen.
I don’t believe he knew it was a ventilator. He never said that word to me. So, on April 4, 2020, they put him on [a vent]. Within a few days, they told me his kidneys were failing. They asked if I would let them do dialysis. I told them to do everything that would make him better.
On April 12, only eight days later, they were telling me there was nothing more they could do. They asked me if I was ready to take him off the ventilator. I said, “No, I want to come see him.” They said I could not go there, so two days later, they took him off the ventilator and told me his heart stopped within fifteen minutes.
I have his medical records, but I have not been able to read them.
